Diagnose the problem of not being able to see your Shogun cradle or hard drive in File Explorer:
Press Windows key and X at the same time, then choose Device Manager.
See if you can see your SHOGUN Cradle here ( usually it shows up as JMicron Generic USB Device)
If you are seeing some other types or marks, such as a question mark or a down-arrow mark or certain error notification or error codes, you have to solve driver or system issues. (You can find info here)
Press Windows key and X at the same time, then choose Disk Manager.
If you can see your drive in Disk Management window, and it has partitions, but you still cannot use it since it is not showing in Windows Explorer or File Explorer, you need to assign a letter to the drive.
add a letter for this drive by pressing Add….
Assign a letter to it and click OK to save the change.
If you can see the drive in Disk Management, but is’s empty
If you can see the drive in Disk Management, but it is Unallocated, with a black bar along the top, which means that the drive is completely empty and unformatted.
Right click the Unallocated space and choose New Simple Volume.
ATTENTION , if you have materials on your Shogun drive, if you proceed with this step, your materials might be lost!!!! Before you should try saving it plugging your cradle into a different computer !!!)
Choose the maximum possible size for the partition and assign a drive letter, or you can let Windows choose a drive letter automatically.
Now you should be able to work with your cradle again.
Chello/UPC Modem im “Bridge Mode” betreiben
Man kann sein existierenden Router auch mit dem Router-Kabelmodem von UPC betreiben, wenn man eine ganz bestimmte Einstellung im Settings-Menü des Kabelmodems vornimmt.
Es gibt dazu keine offizielle Anleitung, aber man kann das Modem als Internet Bridge konfigurieren und dann den alten Router samt WLAN wie gewohnt weiterbetreiben.
Je nach Modell findet sich in der Amdinistrationsoberfläche (192.168.100.1) eine “Modusauswahl” (“Advanced -> System”). Dort kann man den Modus von “Router” auf “Bridge” umstellen.
Im eigenen Netzwerk sollte man beachten diese Adresse des Kabelmodems nicht nochmals zu verwenden und eine andere Netzwerk adresse einzustellen.
Scheinbar durch ein VLC-Upgrade/-update hat sich in unserem System ein Browser-Hijacker festgesetzt: startfenster.de. Eine besonders hartnäckige Malware. Startfenster.de entfernen ist oft nicht so leicht.
Als ein typischer Bowser-Hijacker stellt startfenster.de nicht unbedingt eine Gefahr für das System dar, aber es ist sehr aufdringlich und sehr belästigend. Browser Hijacker wurden mit der Idee geschaffen, Einnahmen für ihre Entwickler zu generieren, indem sie eine erhebliche Menge an Werbeanzeigen auf dem Bildschirm der Nutzer verteilen. Startfenster.de “entführt” ihren Web-Browser, die Homepage, neue Registerkartenseiten und die Standard-Suchmaschine und ersetzt diese durch Startfenster.de. Manchmal kann es auch bei Klicks auf Websites zu ungewollten Umleitungen kommen.
Dieser “Browser-Entführer war ein sehr hartnäckiger Begleiter, der bei jedem neuen Öffnen eines Browserfensters auf startfenster.de führte.
Auch aus den Erweiterungen und den Einstellungen der Browser Firefox, Chrome und Internet-Explorer ließ sich dieser nicht vollständig entfernen.
Klicken auf das Zeichen mit den drei Linien im rechten Bereich der Symbolleiste.

Viele Suchen im Internet versprechen bei der Installation von Spyware- oder Malware-Tools des Systems, nur um nachher mit weiteren Malware-Produkten infestiert zu sein.
Ein Programm hat Abhilfe geschaffen:
Aber Vorsicht!!! Viele Seiten, die Lösungen anbieten und ADW-Cleaner zur Entfernung von Startfenster.de empfehlen, verlinken mit dem Download von anderen Seiten als von der Original-Herausgeber-Seite Malwarebytes.
Der Einsatz des Tools ist sehr einfach.
Installieren laufen lassen und das Tool findet die Einträge (auch von vielen anderen Malware-Programmen) und bietet an selektiv und usergesteuert diese zu entfernen. Dabei werden Ordner Registrierdatenbankeinträge und Browser überprüft.
Die Ergebnisse sind wirklich verblüffend.
Einziger Wehrmutstropfen ist es gibt keine Möglichkeit mehrere Einträge, oder alle Einträge zur Abwahl anzuklicken.
Dann noch ein schneller Neustart und das System war befreit vom mühsamen und bedrohlichen Browser-Umleitungen.

A client provided us with a sample audio recording for a job.

and so on. So the “|” is an illegal character in the Windows 10 file structure and messed everything up.
When we waanted to copy the files over to another folder, we received the following error message:
So since this is german, I will translate:
“The filename is invalid or too long”
This also happened with simple renaming of the files.
I searched through many forums, but it seems that Windows won’t allow such a state.
I tried to pack the files with WinZip and change the filenames within the archive, but also Winzip did not let me do that.
Then I tried with WinRar, no succes, since the files always showed as invalid
Tag&Rename 3.6.5 would not read and process the illegal filenames.
The next candidate was the use of Rename Master v3.13. It did read the filenames, did preview the proper changes, but did not change the wrong and illegal characters.
Flexible Renamer 8.4 was also not successful.
Also RenameFiles ver.2.3b did not help to acheive the goal.
We tested a few other software tools that were windows based, but since the files were on a local NAS, this was also not very successful, since some tools could not even connect to the NAS via the Network.
So the brute-force of UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) was used.
But also PartedMagic was not easy to connect with the NAS, so the final solution was to turn to the file Manager of the NAS, since that works with Linux under the hood.
Our NAS was a QNAP and the only thing we had to achieve, was to release the security of the folder to guest status and – voilà the files could be easily changed.
The blockbuster movie “Saving Private Ryan” from 1998 featuring Tom Hanks uses a puposely broken film camera for a reason.
In order to prepare to shoot the D-day sequence in Saving Private Ryan (1998), the director Steven Spielberg and cameraman Janusz Kamiński set out to research one of the greatest accidents in photographic history.
They researched the look of newsreel footage from the era.
The look seemed grainy, bleached, high-contrasty and they extensively looked at the last 8 remaining frames from the photographer Robert Capa.
Robert Capa was a Hungarian born photojournalist, a pretty good one.
His photographs still capture the fascination and the severity of the “moment”.
He was the one to document the heroic acts and the historic invasion on D-Day in the Normandy. He was well known for his war photography.
Robert Capa landed on Omaha Beach with the first wave of assault troops at 0630 on the morning of June 6, 1944 (D-Day), on freelance assignment from LIFE magazine.
But an excited darkroom assistant, while drying the negatives had used on too much heat causing the film emulsion to melt before his eyes, running down the hanging strips before he could do anything. Out of the one hundred and six images Capa had taken only eight survived.
The faulty drying too had somehow added a special quality to the photographs, one that lifts them out of that specific time and place, making them universal images of war.
Some say this all is a myth, soe say his hands were shaking and others thik it was the saltwater or the exposuter of the image overlapping the sprocket holes in his Contax II camera and the used Kodak 35mm film cassettes.
In Saving Private Ryan light leaks were used to simulate the “running” emulsion from the negatives of Robert Capa.
In an article from the American Cinematographers Magazine (August 1998) Kaminski explains:
“I also used another technique that Doug Milsome [BSC] [btw: he was an operator on the movie Barry Lyndon] utilized on Full Metal Jacket [see AC Sept.1987] where you throw the camera’s shutter out of sync to create a streaking effect from the top to the bottom of the frame. It’s a very interesting effect, but it’s also scary because there’s no way back [once you shoot with it]. It looked great when there were highlights on the soldier’s helmets or epaulets because they streaked just a little bit. The amount of streaking depended on the lighting contrast. If it was really sunny, for instance, the streaking became too much. However, if it was overcast with some little highlights, it looked really beautiful. The streaking also looks fantastic with fire, and that’s what Milsome primarily used it for in Full Metal Jacket.“
Kaminski employed Panavision Platinum and Panastar cameras throughout the Private Ryan shoot, and had Samuelson Film Services in London prepare one unit with a purposely mistimed shutter in order to create the described streaking effect.
Kamiński also had the protective coating stripped from the camera lenses, making them closer to those used in the 1940s. The cinematographer completed the overall effect by putting the negative through bleach bypass in the Film Lab, a process that reduces brightness and color saturation. Kaminski shot Private Ryan in the 1.85:1 format entirely with Eastman Kodak EXR 5293 stock, which he pushed one stop to a 400 ASA rating. He also utilized a ½ Coral filter in place of normal 85 correction to lend a slight bluish tint to the imagery.
“Additionally, I again used a Panaflasher in conjunction with the ENR process, as I had on Amistad. Because of the contrast that you get with the ENR, I was flashing at about 15 percent so that I didn’t get totally sharp blacks. I was looking for a slightly flatter look. The Panaflasher also contributed greatly to the color being more desaturated. You gain the contrast back with the ENR, but you’ve desaturated the color already with the Panatlasher.“, he explains further.
ENR is a silver retention process. Silver retention is also called bleach bypass process is a chemical effect which fully or partially skips of the bleaching bath during the process of developing a color film. By skipping the bleach, silver is retained and most of the color dyes also are retained within the film.
One of the most popular of the silver-retention processes is ENR, which was named for its inventor, Ernesto Novelli Rimo, a former control department operator at Technicolor Rome who designed the technique for Vittorio Storaro, ASC, AIC to use on Warren Beatty’s 1981 film Reds. ENR is a proprietary color-positive developing technique which utilizes an additional black-and-white developing bath inserted at an appropriate stage of a print’s processing in order to retain silver. After the film has been bleached, but prior to the silver being fixed out of the film, this extra bath allows for a controlled amount of silver to be redeveloped, adding density in the areas with the most exposure — primarily the blacks. By retaining silver density in the image, the contrast is increased by making the blacks blacker, and, because of increased contrast in the shadows, more detail is visible. The images appear slightly sharper because of the increased contrast and, because there is physically silver in the film, a certain edge-effect around the image exists.And because there is silver in the print, slightly deaaturated colors are the result, depending upon the level of ENR used.
