The Brownie was an incredible marketing tool, aimed specifically at children. Eastman had realized that his primary ad target would be the family. Kodak’s long term success depended on bringing children into the franchise so they would grow up with Kodak, always needing more cameras and more film. The first batch of 5.000 Brownies sold out almost immediately, and when the second model of the Brownie came out to market next year, almost 250.000 of the original had been sold.
